*More than 300 teachers in Central America have been a part of Participate, a cultural exchange program that recruits preschool, primary and high school teachers to work in U.S. schools for a period from 3 to 5 years.

Belmopán, July 2nd. 2018. If you are an experienced preschool, primary or high school teacher and you are looking to expand your professional background, this opportunity may interest you. Participate is looking for Belizean teacher candidates. Applicants should be willing to work for a period of three up to five years in U.S. schools.
This is the first time that Participate will recruit native teachers from Belize. Participate supports teachers throughout the cultural exchange experience, allowing them to fully develop themselves and share their skills with their students. Participate will be with the elected applicants every step of the way.
The teachers will learn about new educational methods, strategies and they also will be familiarized with a new culture. Teachers will have opportunity to share with U.S. students about their own culture. Upon their return to their country, teachers will be able to apply their new knowledge to the Belizean school community.
Selected teachers will have the same salary conditions that US teachers have. Also, they will have life insurance, airfare will be provided and they will be accompanied in the process of obtaining a visa so they can work during this period”, said Ronald Ramírez, spokesperson for Participate. As an additional benefit, in case it applies, the spouse and children under 18 years of age can travel with the elected candidate.
In order to be a candidate for the Participate recruitment process, educators must have a university degree in education and have at least two years of full-time experience as a teacher in a school or high school. They must have a driver’s license with at least one year of experience because teachers must travel by car to his place of work and public transportation is limited. They also have to be working in a school when they apply to the program.
