Ambergris Caye was packed like never before as thousands flocked to the island for the Easter weekend holiday. Rumors were abound that there were people who could not find hotel rooms and camped out on the beach for the weekend (I could not get a picture of that). We know that the hotels were full, golf cart rentals were exhausted and the airlines and water taxis were busy turning around their vessels to maximize their routes per day.
And there were plenty of activities for everybody, including two great concerts (Island Invasion with Darrio from Jamaica and AIDS Commission Imitators Concert), Saga Easter Egg Hunt, Oceana/Mama Vilma’s House Beach Party, Moose’s Kite Contest and all the other activities that make La Isla Bonita so special – swimming, golf cart exploring, tanning, clubbing, beach combing, snorkeling, diving, parasailing, boating…
Besides traffic being a little ‘Hellish”, no major incidents occurred during the Easter Weekend and it is safe to say that everybody had a fantastic time in San Pedro.

AIDS Commission Easter Show
Celebrity imitators from Merida, Mexico were invited by the San Pedro AIDS Commission to perform. It was a spectacular show that took place at the R. Angel Nuñez Auditorium on Saturday, April 23 and did not end until three in the morning! (Above Lady Gaga)

Oceana Belize teamed up with Mama Vilma Family Home for a fundraiser beach party at Central Park on Easter Sunday. Oceana gathered signs for the offshore drilling referendum while Mama Vilma Family Home raised funds for their new community home
Island Invasion Concert
Jamaican entertainer Darrio with Mauricio Mejia and Nikki of Skynet Sounds. Island Invasion put on a fantastic two-day concert (Friday and Saturday) at Fido’s Courtyard with loads of DJ’s from around the country with Jamaican entertainer Darrio highlighting Saturday’s event. It drew crowd from around the country!
