You are looking at one of the very first or perhaps the first golf cart on the Island. This one was being driven by Iraida Gonzalez who was giving her son Kevinsito Gonzalez a leisure ride around the Island beach roads. This road was just past Ramon’s village leading up to La Punta or Victoria House. At about this time everyone on the island was desirous of riding on one of these and owning one. They were the “in thing” on Ambergris Caye. Furthermore they were very inexpensive as importers were offering the second hand ones for about four thousand Belize dollars. Golf carts- they have come a long way from one or two to two thousand on the island.
