Friends,
In closing and finalizing this election, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you most sincerely and wholeheartedly. Each and every one of you played an essential role in our resounding success. I say “our” because we can all share the success since we attained our desired goal. Our goal was to change the mentality of at least one person, to show them, that we must elect people over parties and be patriots over politicians. Our country must come before any party.
I have also set out to prove that an Independent Candidate can win an election and make a difference. At many times “people” insisted we would never attain anything over two hundred votes. The results now disprove the old way of thinking and will further ensure the community that yes, it can be done!
I have not been discouraged in any way and can assure you that I will continue to be Melanie Ann Paz. I will continue to work with the organizations I am involved in and serve the community whom I have had the privilege to call a home. I have never been so proud to be a Belizean, I have never enjoyed so much the fruits from the tree of democracy and I have never had this amount of hope that I have now. Having proven, for the first time in political history, that yes, change is possible and it is in your hands, not in that of our politicians.
I humbly ask that you, my supporters follow me in the absence of discouragement. In the absence of dishonesty. In the absence of fear. In the absence of victimization. Join me in the presence of unity, solidarity and patriotism. My struggle for this community is not over and I thank you for helping to make this struggle easier, lighter, and less lonely. Bask in the comfort of knowing that I have not been weakened or discouraged. Remember,
