The San Pedro Holiday Boat Parade Committee has been working arduously year after year to provide residents every Christmas a spectacular Lighted Boat Parade. Businesses are always willing to donate to this committee and with additional funds collected this year, Jan Brown, Chairlady of the Boat Parade Committee was more than pleased to hand out monetary donations to three organizations in the island on Tuesday, January 12, at the San Pedro Town Council.
For the second year now, both the San Pedro AIDS Commission and the Holy Cross Anglican School received a donation. Mrs. Eve Dirnback of the Calendar Club and soul founder of the R.C. School Cafeteria project was the third to receive the donation and was very grateful for the donation as help is needed to finish off the project.
Mr. Felix Ayuso and Mr. Nesher Acosta of the San Pedro AIDS Commision also received a check and stated that the money will go towards the reconstruction of murals around town promoting HIV/AIDS awareness, as well as to financially assist persons with HIV.
Mr. Vernon Wilson and Mrs. Frances Wilson of the Holy Cross Anglican School accepted with much gusto their donation which will be used for the school’s feeding program. The feeding program consists of providing breakfast, snacks and lunch for 500 students at no cost on a daily basis.
