The eight beauty ambassadors for the Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant have arrived in San Pedro, signaling the commencement of the Costa Maya Festival 2010. Upon their arrival the contestants were whisked away for some sun, sand and sea adventures during the weekend before their heavy scheduling of pageant rehearsals commenced.
On Saturday, July 31, Ambergris Today accompanied the ladies to Shark Ray Alley on board the Lady Leslie catamaran for the one-of-a-kind underwater experience with the sharks and stingrays in the coral reef reserve. Later that evening they were hosted by the San Pedro Lions Club for Costa Maya Festival’s Noche Sanpedrana where the eight contestants of the Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant were officially sashed by outgoing Miss Costa Maya 2009 Maritza Rivas, Miss Nicaragua.
It was a fabulous social evening where residents got the opportunity to personally meet, greet and welcome the beauty ambassadors to San Pedro, Belize. The night was full of music, dance, fundraisers and a fashion show that showcased clothes from local boutiques.
The fun was not over for the contestants as on Sunday, August 1, they traveled to the island of Caye Caulker for another beautiful day in the sun. Prior to making landfall on our neighboring island, the crew of Seaduced by Belize took the ladies on a snorkeling trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve. After being hosted by the Rainbow Restaurant for lunch it was off to explore the picturesque community of Caye Caulker. On the way back home the ladies got to enjoy a great manatee encounter close to Hol Chan Marine Reserve. The weekend ended with a great dinner at Playa Chel with entertainment by Rompe Raja and Coconut Leo.
