Interview with Miss San Pedro Contestants

In last week’s edition of Ambergris Today we introduced to you the six beautiful young ladies that will be vying for the title of Miss San Pedro on Saturday, September 4, 2010. The six attractive San pedranas who will be on center stage at this year’s pageant are Genny Rhaburn, Lila Gonzalez, Ivy Alamilla, Mishelby Leiva, Gelie Nuñez and Natasha Stewart.

This past weekend the girls travelled to Chetumal, Quintana Roo where they went shopping and visited several important places. They also have many lunches, dinner and other places to visit prior to pageant.

Ambergris Today had the opportunity to sit and chat with the excited young ladies and we asked them a few questions. Meet the lovely contestants of this year’s Miss San Pedro Beauty Pageant:

 

*Mishelby Leiva*
Age: 17-year-old
Education: 4th Form Business Student at SPHS
Hobbies: Playing Volleyball, Dancing and Deep Sea Fishing
Future Goal: To become a dermatologist and open her own business.
Sponsor: Captain Morgan’s Retreat

Mishelby has always admired the courage of other girls that participate in pageants and wanted to experience it herself. Her role model has always been her grandfather (deceased) for he always taught her to never give up and to strive to be the best. Mishelby believes that participating in this pageant she will develop a higher self esteem and believes she can do many things and face her fears.

 

*Lila Gonzalez*
Age: 16-year-old
Education: 4th Form Business Student at SPHS
Hobbies: Dancing
Future Goal: To become a veterinarian
Sponsor: Jaguar’s Temple Night Club

It has been one of Lila’s dreams to participate in a pageant and believes that she is more than ready to participate in this year’s pageant. With her mom being her role model as a strong and independent woman she believes that she will to her best in the pageant and hopes to gain more self esteem.

 

*Ivy Alamilla *
Age: 16-year-old
Education: 3rd Form Business Student at SPHS
Hobbies: Dancing & Singing
Future Goal: To become an architect
Sponsor: Fido’s Courtyard

With the support of her mother and sister Noellie, Ivy decided to participate in this year’s pageant. She hopes to gain more self esteem. If she becomes the next Miss San Pedro, Ivy promises to push for more activities for the youth and be a great role model for them.

 

*Natasha Stewart *
Age: 16-year-old
Education: 1st year student at St. Johns College Junior College – Accounting/Business Management
Hobbies: Dancing, Spending time with friends and going to the beach.
Future Goal: To become an accountant
Sponsor: Captain Shark’s

Natasha’s role model is her grandmother who has taught her to never give up and always strive for the best, and with that in mind she is believes that can help make a difference and represent San Pedro to the fullest extent as the new beauty ambassador. By participating in the pageant she hopes to meet new people, make new friends and help others especially the youth and those in need.

 

*Gelie Nuñez *
Age: 15-year-old
Education: 3rd Form Business Student at SPHS
Hobbies: Swimming
Future Goal: To become a teacher
Sponsor: Castillo’s Hardware

As a born and raised Sanpedrana Gelie believes that nothing else would make her more proud than to represent her island and be the next beauty ambassador. With her mom being her role model, Gelie has developed a passion of working with children and hopes to become a teacher in the future. She believes that participating in this pageant she will gain for self esteem as she is a very shy person. If she wins, her first objective will be to work with the youth of San Pedro get them involved in activities and help them become better persons and citizens of la Isla Bonita.

 

*Genny Rhaburn *
Age: 17-year-old
Education: 2nd Form Student at SPHS
Hobbies: Swimming and surfing the web
Future Goal: To become a lawyer
Sponsor: Victoria House

With encouragement of friends and family, Genny decided to run for this year’s pageant. Genny’s sister has played a major role in her life as being the only person maintaining her family and still studying to get a higher education. She wants to do her best in this pageant and become a better person; more mature, make new friends and encourage others to not be afraid to follow their dreams.

These six beautiful young ladies will be vying for the crown and title of Miss San Pedro on Saturday, September 4, under the theme of “Enchanting & Magical – Our Belizean Barrier Reef”. So mark your calendars and support your favorite candidate for pageant.
