San Pedro, Ambergris Caye was represented at the Expo Weekend Tour in El Salvador. The San Pedro Town Council participated at the event thanks to the invitation of Her Excellency Celie Paz de Gonzalez, Belize’s Ambassador to El Salavador.
Ambergris Caye had two days to shine, on Thursday, August 26 and Friday, August 27and the island was promoted as the number one vacation and tourist destination in the country of Belize. Basic information about the island was shared to those who visited the booth such as how to get here, what to do, where to stay and much more. Belizean products were on display and given out, such as Marie Sharps sauces, Traveller’s Liquors and San Pedro’s very own Kawkaw Dark Chocolate.
“Apart from promoting Ambergris Caye as a Tourism Destination, we had an overwhelming response from students who wanted to learn more about Ambergris Caye and Belize,” commented Mr. Felix Ayuso of the San Pedro Town Council. “ Deputy Mayor, Pablo Ico was very keen in this area.” The Ambergris Caye booth was well visited as not only did University students showed interest in knowing about Ambergris Caye but private aircraft owners and several other Ambassadors as well.
The Belizean Contingency consisted of Deputy Mayor Pablo Ico, Mr. Felix Ayuso and Mrs. Ana Ico (representing the private business sector); they were later joined by Mayoress Elsa Paz who was attending a SICA Conference.
