Ambergris Today Newspaper was first at the scene of a fire that destroyed a warehouse on Saturday, April 4, 2009. The San Pedro Fire Department was quick to the scene of the fire that broke out in the San Pablo Area at around 4p.m. and completely burnt down one of the storage rooms of Medina’s Construction which is adjacent to their worker’s housing lot and also next door to a carpentry workshop.
High winds caused the fire to quickly engulf the warehouse but its outside aluminum siding prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby homes. Police did arrest a man who was suspected of starting the blaze. Residents in the neighborhood say that the same man was on a drunken rampage the night before the fire and was causing a disturbance that same day minutes before the fire started.
