Sixteen year old Ilan Nuñez who is currently living in San Antonio, Texas and studying dance at North East School of the Arts, was back on the island during the holidays to give the senior class at the San Pedro Dance Company more dance training.
This time around he choreographed a few dances that the group performed for their Christmas Show. He even got to work with a new group of male dancers who just recently joined the dance company.
This past Saturday, December 30, 2006, Ilan showcased the dance performances that he choreographed to parents of the dance group members at a private event at the Lions Den. His unique dance style brings in yet another flare to the professional dancing that the San Pedro Dance Company has achieved.
Ilan, a local Sanpedrano, has already studied two years of musical theater and in the past was a member of the San Pedro Dance Company.
In the future Ilan dreams of owning his own studio to teach choreography. “I love dancing but see myself more as a choreographer,” he told Ambergris Today. “When you have the heart for something you can do it.”
