Part of the agreement negotiated by Past President Milo Paz for the San Pedro Lions Poly Clinic II was to solicit and look for donations for the clinic. The local Lions Club provides the property and the building which was completed by the Government of Belize. The Government of Belize further provides for all the administrative expenses, including staffing.
A year and a half ago when Milo Paz was president, he submitted a needs or wish list to medical doctors and foundations, and on January 1, Mr. Paz received the good news that a shipment is due to be dispatched shortly and destined to the Ministry of Health for the San Pedro Lions Poly Clinic. Mr. Paz has received the summary of packing list which is several pages long and which is enough to fill up a container. The estimated value of this donation is over a million dollars.
At the moment, George Roberge, Vice President of the Project C.U.R.E, has submitted the packing list to Dr. Frank Whipps, who will review the list before shipping. Project C.U.R.E. is a BENEVOLENT HEALTHCARE FOUNDATION, and its letter to Mr. Fred Smith of the Ministry of Health and copy to Lions Milo Paz is an official confirmation that the medical goods being shipped are given as a gift, free of any charges from Project C.U.R.E. With a smile Milo Paz Jr. said, “If the Lions Clinic did not receive any Christmas gift, well here it is coming very soon. I am so glad because San Pedro will soon benefit from improved services at the clinic.”
