Valentine’s day is a time when most people look at restaurants and resorts in search for that perfect Valentine’s dinner, a romantic meal to share with that special someone or those special people in your life including parents, grandparents and children. With this in mind Sueño del Mar, located north of Ambergris Caye, invited Ambergris Today to be part of a very elegant and romantic buffet; my wife and I attended. While many couples are in search for that perfect meal, Sueño del Mar prepared the most delectable set of dishes.
A short boat ride from Fido’s dock, while cruising along the shores of Ambergris Caye, watching the sun set in the distance we arrived at Sueño del Mar resort. We were welcome by Mr. Elder Mauricio with a glass of rum punch and introduced us to a couple guests and patrons many of whom read Ambergris Today online. I could not help but notice the wonderful “romantic” scene ahead of us: lamp lit tables under the moonlight, petals along our pathway beside the beach shore, and slow soul music warming the fresh Caribbean breeze.
We enjoyed live music by some members of Sueño del Mar. Music has been called the food of love, indeed it was Mrs. Tina Ronse, but soon after I was reassured that the actual food of love was food itself. A seafood buffet that was specifically designed to complement the mood: lobster kebabs, shrimp kebabs, potato casserole, conch fritters, and rice or fresh garden salad. For dessert there were pineapple cake, chocolate cake and 3 color cake. Our meal was complimented with champagne. Mr. Elder, our host, went to every table giving the women a rose. A wonderful surprise for everyone! Sueño del Mar can truly hit the spot when it comes to detail and attention to guests.
I would like to thank the chefs and cooks for preparing the best romantic buffet, the organizers and management for decorating and setting the mood, as well as the musicians Mrs. Shelly Burgan and Mrs. Tina Ronse with that an angelic voice for entertaining us with fine romantic selections. I know I do not speak for myself because many of the guests were happy for fine dining under an amazing night sky. Thank you Sueño del Mar for making our valentine’s day so unforgettable.
