Belize Lions Hurricane Richard Relief Efforts

Under the leadership of Lion Baldemar Graniel, Zone Chairman of Belize Lions Zone 59, Lions Club members from all over Belize have been providing assistance to many families affected by Hurricane Richard.

The Lions Clubs of Belize received a Hurricane Emergency Grant of $20,000Bze from Lions Clubs International Headquarters in Chicago, U.S.A. and through this Grant, some 400 families affected by Hurricane Richard were assisted. The families were provided with food hampers of up to $50 each, or with Food Vouchers of values of $50 to $100. The Food Vouchers allowed the hurricane victims to secure food items which were not being provided in the food rations that they have been receiving from different Organizations.

The Lions have also been providing used clothing to the hurricane victims. Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.3 million members in 45,000 Lions Clubs in more than 200 countries and geographic areas.
