Fundraiser for Verna Reyes
January 29th, 2011- Fundraiser for Verna Reyes at Central Park starting at 10:30 a.m. The fundraiser will consist of a food sale including Tamales and Rice and Beans, Stew Chicken and Potato Salad. The San Pedro Cancer Society and its members will be in attendance and in full support of this fundraiser with the assistance of Mrs. Flora Ancona. The San Pedro Cancer Society will also have for sale T-shirts which will be used for our cancer walk. The shirt will display a lavender ribbon (symbol for all types of cancer) on the front and the Cancer Society’s logo on the back. Prices will be $20 BZE. A limited amount will be available but we will place an immediate order if more are required.
Cancer Screenings at Poly Clinic
February 4th, 2011 – The San Pedro Cancer Society also wishes to join the San Pedro Polyclinic on their efforts to promote Cancer screenings for the patients in San Pedro. From 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. the polyclinic offers breast exams and Pap smear exams from Mondays to Thursdays through their trained nurses. In honor of World Cancer Awareness Day, the San Pedro Polyclinic will be extending these services and providing an all day Breast and Pap Smear Screening throughout the day of Friday February 4th, 2011.
Candle Lit Walk
Day in and day out the San Pedro Cancer Society is becoming more organized and working very hard in the promotion of creating awareness for the fight on cancer and assistance to those in need.
Today the San Pedro Cancer Society is inviting everyone to join them on World Cancer Awareness Day, February 4, 2011, in a candle lit walk around the main streets of San Pedro Town. The group’s main initiative is to create awareness about this disease and is not charging any fee for participation. All are welcome to join and show their support for the people fighting cancer, the ones who have survived it, and the ones who were taken too soon from us.
Participants of the Candle Lit Walk are asked to take a candle in honor of the person(s) they are walking for. The Society members will have T-shirts marking the occasion for sale at $20.00 each and orders can also be place before hand (a limited order was made). People are asked to wear the color of the cancer they are walking for if they do not purchase a T-shirt.
The Candle Lit Walk will commence at 5:30pm leaving from Central Park heading toward San Juan Area at the roundabout and doubling back through Pescador Drive and ending at the Lion’s Club.

World Cancer Day Celebration
Awareness of World Cancer Day continues on Sunday, February 6 as the Cancer Society organizes World Cancer Day Event Celebration.
Come meet our members and show you support to the society by purchasing lunch, drinks and raffle tickets.
The morning kicks off with DJ music and all day food sale. They will be holding Chinese auctions all day, as well as a few raffles throughout the day. In the afternoon make it a point to come by with the family to enjoy great snacks while listening to Rompe Raja who will be performing into the night.
“We have been getting a great response from the community so far and hope that the support grows,” commented Monica. “We are still looking for a few more raffle and auction prizes so if you would like to donate your services or an item please contact us at 610-1293.”
