San Pedro came out to Central Park on Saturday, March 5, 2011 to enjoy the Carnaval Block Party and witness the coronation of Miss Carnaval 2011. Two lovely ladies, Ileny Aguilar and Kaysha Martin, contested the crown in a popularity contest that had them collecting funds which counted as points for them. At the end of the evening it was Ileny Aguilar who recieved the most popular votes, making her the new Miss Carnaval 2011; Miss San Pedro Natasha Stuart and Miss Carnaval 2010 Vicky Balam were on hand for the coronation.
Besides the Miss Carnaval competition, there was a competition during the block party which included Best Carnaval Themed Booth (won by the Blue Hole Bar and Grill), Best Carnaval Dish (won by the San Pedro Lions Club for their tasty Meatball) and Best Carnaval inpired Drink (won by Luis Caliz for his “Le Pink” cocktail).
It was a fun night filled with food, drinks, music, entertainment and dance presentations that kicked off San Pedro’s Carnaval celebrations. Congratulations to Ileny Aguilar!
