The Ministry of Health sponsored a San Pedro Community Health Fair that took place today, April 7, 2011 at Central Park. There were lots of games, prizes and surprises for those who attended, in particular the school children who swarmed to the fair.
Educational booths set up at the park offered a variety of information, including from the Diabetes Association, Public Health, HECOPAB, Alliance Against AIDS, Maternal and Child Care, San Pedro Town Council, SAGA, Lions Club, Kidney Association, Vector Control, NDACC, Dental and Chest clinic.
Residents took advantage of free screening and testing for diabetes, hypertension and HIV, to name a few. There were also educational presentations and plenty of booklets and pamphlets to get informed. Ambergris Today staff members also screened for diabetes and someone’s blood sugar was a bit high. Good thing to know and start taking precautionary measures. Overall, the Health Fair was a success.
