The San Pedro Sailing Club, in coordination with the Belize Sailing Association, a registered charity, are inviting all the children of San Pedro to the beach at Caribbean Villas for the revealing of San Pedro’s very own Optimist fleet (small sailing boats), this Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 11am to 3pm.
The San Pedro Sailing club has extended personal invitations to all the schools on Ambergris Caye as they believe that their participation is absolutely vital to ensure the success of this structured sail training program. They are inviting students between the ages of eight and fourteen to attend, teachers and parents are also invited to show their support.
The students will be able to see firsthand the boats and witness a number of demonstration races. Also and more IMPORTANTLY they will be able to register their interest with the San Pedro Sailing Club so that the club can work out the logistics of completing the initial phases of the training program. There will be a registration table located on the beach for those students who show interest.
There will also be an information desk where details of how the training will be coordinated and members of the Sailing Club will be discussing their aims and ambitions for the children of San Pedro. The current main ambitions are to get a San Pedrano to represent Belize in the Optimist World Championship 2012 (Boca Chica, Dominican Republic) and ultimately the Olympics in 2016!
Many other activities have also been laid on to make sure that a fun day will be had by all. These include:
Demonstration Sailing Races
Hobie Cats will be available
Bouncy Castle (weather permitting)
Food Stalls (Full BBQ and Wade the Gringo Kids Meals)
Registration Table (very important)
