Caye Caulker Lazy Lizard Lobsterfest a Success

by: Lizette Alamina-Gutierrez, Editor, Caye Caulker Chronicles – Over the weekend, July 1-3, 2011, the Lazy Lizard Bar and Grill in collaboration with San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi held their Lobster Fest at the Split Beach and it surely did not fail to disappoint.

Despite the threatening rains that we had, we are thankful that it held up and provided for families to enjoy the 3-day fest, which was filled with family beach fun, games, food and drinks, which were certainly not short at all. The Youth Connection Band was on hand with Stone Jam Sounds and DJ Chico to provide the entertainment for all ages. Games such as the Greasy Pole, Greasy Pig contests were an all-time attraction for everyone. The Bikini Contest was also a great and entertaining highlight for all as the audience cheered on their favorite contestant.

Flocks of locals arrived on the different water taxis between Saturday and Sunday in droves to enjoy the fest and of course, the delectable lobster and other seafood dishes that were provided for the weekend. All in all, it was a HUGE success even though it was the un-official fest and the organizers surely proved that they could pull it off.

Kudos to Immer & his staff of Lazy Lizard Bar & Grill and Myron and Kein Marin of San Pedro Belize Express who really out-did themselves in providing this one-of-a-kind fest. Also noteworthy was that the entrance fees being charged were all proceeds going to the Caye Caulker Roman Catholic School toward their much needed school building.
