San Pedro Youth Summer Sailing Program Begins

San Pedro Sailing Club, Press Release, July 12, 2011 – A sizeable squall rained out the 10:00a.m. lessons on Monday, July 11; however, at 4:00 p.m., three undaunted students in their early teens braved threatening skies to complete their first solo sail and the first lesson of this summer’s San Pedro Youth Summer Sailing Program.

The students in the pictures are Corey, Hunter, and Morgain and the type of boats they are in are Optimists Dinghies. The three kids progressed very rapidly in their 1 1/2 hour lesson. Instructors Andy Milner and Paul McCarthy report that it won’t be long before these three are ready to learn racing.

The San Pedro Youth Summer Sailing Program is put on by the San Pedro Sailing Club and is under the auspices of the Belize Sailing Association. The lessons take place at Sailsports, on the beach by Caribbean Villas.
