NEMO Announces Search and Rescue Training Program

The NEMO, San Pedro/Caye Caulker Special Emergency Committee is scheduling to conduct a four-day search and rescue training program on Ambergris Caye in August. The National Emergency Management Organization understands that getting people committed to attend is a challenge as it is difficult for people to give up their time.

But the search and rescue training is very beneficial to residents in the community. So NEMO is inviting residents once again to consider joining their four-day training program whose objective is to train, build capacity and enhance the knowledge of at least 15 to 20 responsible individuals who will, thereafter the training, form the NEMO San Pedro/Caye Caulker Emergency Rescue Team.

This is a great opportunity for residents who are willing to partake in something that is very important for the community and join a team whose role will be to respond to natural/man – made search and rescue efforts on the request by NEMO when the need arises. Upon completion of the training each team will be equipped with rescue gear; the number of teams will depend of participation from island residents.

Interested individuals can contact the San Pedro Town NEMO Office at Samuel Gonzalez Apt. #2, Barrier Reef Drive, San Pedro Town, 226-4291/ 600-8672/ 666-7476 or stop by and leave their name and contact number at the Hon. Manuel Heredia, Area Rep. office.

The date, time and venue will be announced after participants are confirmed. NEMO needs committed people to join. Disaster is everybody’s business. NEMO “Preserving Life and Property”
