Queen of the Jewel Belize Heads to Miss Ethnic World

Twenty-year-old Tyler Marie Savery is representing Belize in the only International pageant dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity. Final event will be held at the LAX Hilton on September 4, 2011, in Los Angeles, California.

“It is with Honor and pride that I, Tyler Marie Savery accepted this opportunity to represent Belize, our country rich in flora, fauna, culture and tropical radiance, in the 2011 Miss Ethnic World Pageant. I entered the world of pageantry in search of a new experience with open eyes and minimal expectations. Being awarded first runner-up to the Queen of the Jewel resonates as a thrilling memory which has since been surpassed by the possibility to return home with an international title. I must say I am humbled and overjoyed.

I was born in the town of Dangriga as the first blessing to my wonderful parents, Mr. Anthony & Mrs. Esther Savery on June 8 1991. With my mother’s discipline and my father’s patience I have become the independent, optimistic and adaptable young woman I am today. Throughout my years they have guided my intellect and encouraged my creativity. I am pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business/Tourism Management at the University of Belize in Belize City. Upon completion of my studies, I aspire to become an integral part of promoting Belize within the local and international travel market. My artistic abilities include drawing, painting hairstyling and fashion design. I absolutely love being healthy. My fitness regimen includes playing soccer, dancing, sport fishing and body building.

I don’t believe in judging people by their circumstances or age because you never know what they are going through. I encourage my fellow youth to stand tall ad not allow these limitations to define who you are or what you can accomplish in life. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to my family, friends, the people of my hometown, Dangriga and Queen of the Jewel Ltd. for granting me this opportunity to bring pride to Belize.”
