Never has San Pedro’s Independence Day parade been so colorful in all of our years of documenting it. It was so great to see so many different colors shine throughout the parade! It was not only the longest parade that we have witnessed but the spirit of the people was more than enough to liven up the Independence Day Parade that took place on Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
From black orchids, to white doves, to blue morpho butterflies, to masquerade fun, the costumes and floats burst with vibrant colors and such great detail. Miss San Pedro led the parade sitting on a giant #30, representing the celebration of our 30 years of independence.
The parade was nothing short of a ‘Slow Tornado” as Lova Boy’s smash hit song was like the anthem of this year’s parade; every float danced to “Slow Tornado” at various points of the parade that seemed never ending.
The celebration of our Belizean Independence Day anniversary could never have been more beautiful! San Pedro celebrated with pride and joy. Here are the top winners of the parade. Congratulations to all and Happy Independence Day Belize.
