Beauty pageants are held throughout the country; here in San Pedro we get our fair share of pageantry from Miss Chiquitita to Miss Costa Maya International. Beautiful Sanpedranas have also proudly represented Belize in international pageants, Miss World Belize – Martha Badillo (1989) and Miss World Belize – Letty Lara (2009), Tatiana Rivero – Miss Piel Dorada (2010) and Liliana Nuñez – Reina International del Tropico (2008) – Miss America Latina (2009) – Miss Costa Maya International (2010), Anna Haylock – Miss Teenager Universe (2011).
This year Belize is being represented at international beauty pageants around the world at this moment. Our lovely representatives are Ms. Kadejah Tunn – Miss World Belize, Ms. Annlyn Apolonio – Queen of the Jewel and Ms. Kimberly Robateau – Miss Earth Belize. These lovely ladies have the difficult task (but fun experience) of being among hundreds of contestants and make Belize shine.
Miss World Belize Kadejah Tunn in London
Miss Kadejah is currently in London competing with 120 other country delegates for the Miss World Crown. The final for the pageant will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Earls Courts, London. The contestants have partaken in talent and costumes competitions, sports competitions and travelled to Scotland.
A team of 25 stylists will be offering top class styling assistance to all 122 contestants. This team would include Tim Hartley, British Hairdresser of the year nominee and Steve Smart, British World Champion Hairdresser as the official Hair team for Miss World 2011.
The Miss World Event will be televised worldwide to more than a billion viewers in 150 countries. We wish Miss Tunn the very best – Go Miss Belize.
Queen of the Jewel Annlyn Apolonio at Chengdu, China – Miss International Beauty Pageant
Annlyn is the first Belizean to participate in the Miss International Pageant which is being held in Chengdu, China. Annlyn has been in China since Sunday, October 23 and has been busy with many activities which all lead to the grand final on Sunday, November 6, 2011.
Miss Annlyn has been in reception parties, sponsor events, at a music park and at the Dujuangyan Irrigation System. These are all activities where the 65 contestants of the Miss International Pageant have participated in. The national costume competition will take place on November 1 where Annlyn will be adorn in the first ever Blue Hole costume, designed by RH Creation.
Miss International Pageant is hailed as one of the three most significant pageants in the world for its 50- year history. Miss Annlyn is doing a great job representing Belize and we wish her the very best.
Miss Earth Belize to Travel to Thailand
Miss Kimberly will be travelling to Thailand and be there from Sunday, November 20 to Saturday, December 3, 2011. The 11th edition of the Miss Earth pageant is scheduled to be held on December 3, 2011 at the Impact, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. Miss Earth 2010, Nicole Faria of India will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Aligning with the International Year of the Forests, this year’s staging of the Miss Earth pageant is expected to be a grand showcase of Thailand’s rich culture, tourist spots, and, more importantly, its efforts to save and protect the environment. The theme of this year’s Miss Earth edition will be “Smile for Earth, for All”.
