Miss Costa Maya 2010 Making Waves Back Home

Ambergris Today and the San Pedro Costa Maya Festival are proud to see that Miss Costa Maya 2010, Gabriela Asturias from Guatemala is riding high on a wave of success back home. She visited San Pedro back in August to crown her successor at the Costa Maya Festival and now Gabriela is hard at work in boosting her career as a model, TV personality, dancer and all around public figure.

Her most recent triumphs have been winning a title at the Miss Playa Mundial 2011 that took place last month in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and just last week she was honored by the Nuestro Diario Newspaper in Guatemala as Modelo Estrella Nacional. The newspaper’s annual event recognizes top public figures in the country with awards presented to celebrities who receive the most public votes on its website. Gabriela was awarded with the top national model prize.

“I would like to thank everybody for all their support,” commented Gabriela on her Facebook wall. “I am super happy and proud to have won this award. Thank you to Nuestro Diario for the award and for following me throughout my career since I was growing up. Thanks to everybody from the bottom of my heart who took time to vote for me. This award means so much to me; I am grateful for everything that life has given me. God is great and is always with me.”
