Beauty Ambassador Maria Jeffery was Miss Belize 2006 and represented Belize in the Miss Universe Pageant in 2007 and that same year she wowed the judges at the Costa Maya International Pageant and won the title for Belize. Maria is now back on the island, not to capture any judges hearts, but to work with community as she is a registered nurse.
Ambergris Today met with Ms. Jeffery at the Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic and had a short talk with her. Jeffery stated that she was extremely happy to be on the island and hopes to be stationed permanently as one of the registered nurses at the Clinic.
“People here are so nice and help at the clinic is really needed,” stated Jeffery. “I am currently on training and hope to stay here and give back to this lovely community”.
Jeffery was studying nursing prior to engaging in the pageantry life; she took a break from her studies and after her reign as Miss Costa Maya she continued her studies. Jeffery has worked at several clinics and hospitals in Belize City including Belize Health Care Partners and doing private home nursing.
