San Pedro High at 40, Celebrates 36th Graduation

FORTY YEARS OF EXCELLENCE was the theme of San Pedro High School graduation exercises on Sunday, June 16, 2012.  The R. Angel Nuñez Auditorium was full to capacity as 62 seniors marched the green carpet for the 36th Annual Graduation Exercises and Fortieth Anniversary.

After the Mass of Thanksgiving celebrated by Rev. Father Arturo Añonuevo, Emcees Fatima Solani Graniel and Glenn Rudolf Gillett led through the proceedings by inviting honor student Kelsie Camille Santos to the podium for the salutatory address. On an interesting note Graduate Kelsie Santos did not receive one single demerit for her entire four years at SPHS.

Principal Emil Vasquez and Martha Guerrero, chairlady distributed diplomas to 62 graduates and then many academic and athletic awards to students and graduates. A few teachers, as well as board members, received awards for outstanding and/or long service to the institution. Education Officer Candy Armstrong was the invited guest speaker.

San Pedro High School Seniors Celebrate
In celebration of 40 years of excellence in educational services to the community, SPHS presented beautiful plaque awards to Martha Guerrero who performed excellent duties as Chairlady of the Board from 1976 to 2012. Retired Principal Angel Nuñez was awarded for outstanding services from 1973 to 2007. Student of the Year Award was bestowed to sophomore student Gian Rivero for his outstanding performance both academically and in athletics.

The highest honors for the Class of 2012 went to Emily Gomez who was invited to deliver the Valedictory address, a task that she did with distinction. After the principal’s address there was a candlelight ceremony for the new seniors presented by Nirza Leilani Sanchez, a by rose ceremony Sucely Blanco and Laji Nuñez, a graduation song by the Class of 2012 and then the grand finale, a lovely vote of thanks presented by Giovanni Ismael Kay.

Greetings, congratulations and photography went on accompanied by showers of blessings to mark the joyous celebration of another graduation at SPHS. Ambergris Today extends sincere congratulations to everyone involved in education and graduation for a job well done.
