It’s the Belizean island that is known for the “Go Slow” motto that explains the lifestyle of the our neighboring island of Caye Caulker, but that motto is thrown out the window during their Lobster Fest celebration. The tiny island comes alive for three days as Caye Caulker offers a different kind Lobster Fest!
The three-day festival was celebrated this past weekend from Friday, June 29 to July 1, 2012. Contrary to San Pedro’s Lobster Fest that is 10-days long and which mostly concentrates on celebrating the deliciousness of the Caribbean Spiny Lobster by showcasing the culinary delights from restaurants all over the island, Caye Caulke’s Lobster Fest is one huge blowout beach party!
It’s a big draw for Belizeans from all over, in contrast from San Pedro’s Lobster Fest that hauls a great number of tourists to the island. There are lots of locals who have one thing in mind – To Party! A whole lot of lobster grilling takes place along the entire length of Caye Caulker’s main street that leads to the famous split were everybody gathers to enjoy loud music, drinks and cool of in the sea.
Kicking off the festivities is was the crowning of Miss Lobster Fest that took on Friday, June 29. Sylvia Marie Joseph was crowned Miss Lobster Fest 2012-2013 and was also awarded Ms. Creativity, Ms. Amity and Ms. Photogenic! Jasmine Skeen came in as first runner up and won an award for Ms. Popularity while Jasmine Arce came in second runner up!

The island turns into one gigantic beach party as “La Isla Cariñosa/The Friendly Island” welcomes everybody to enjoy the sun, sea, air and lobster. It’s very welcoming that its festivities are totally different from that of San Pedro and Placencia’s Lobster Fests; something different to look forward to at all different locations.
