Mosquitoes be GONE!
The rainy season has begun and Mayor Danny Guerrero is occupied in getting the streets back in order because of the heavy rains. But not only does the rain cause troubles on our streets, it also brings out some nasty pests – mosquitoes.
Island residents are constantly complaining that not enough is being done to kill these intrusive and annoying pests. The Town Council owns only one spray fogger that is supposed to cover the entire island from North to South, East to West. Noticing such problem the Ministry of Health representatives presented to the Town Council a new fogger on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
Present at the official handing over of the new equipment were Lisa Tillett – San Pedro Health Inspector, Owen Vellos – Dr. Otto Rodriguez Poly Clinic Administrator, Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Councilors Kenrick Brackett and Guillermo Paz and Town Foreman Samuel Gonzalez.
The new fogger will alleviate the Town Council’s stress of getting all of the residential areas sprayed for mosquitoes in a timely manner.
More Cycles for the Transport Department!
They say that when it rains it pours! And donations to the San Pedro Transport Department have been pouring in! Just last month the Transport Department received a donation of two motorcycles and this week it received one more!
Mr. Ian Ritchie of Captain Sharks donated a motorcycle to the Transport Department and Councilor Kenrick Brackett and Manager of Transport Mr. Chris Nuñez were both present at the handing over of the new motorcycle which took place at Captain Sharks on Tuesday, July 03, 2012.
The donation will assist the Transport Department in having more patrols in the streets of San Pedro and the Town Council hopes to have a total of ten traffic wardens by the time the Costa Maya Festivities commence in August. Kudos to Captain Sharks for such kind gesture.
