St. George's Caye Day Commemorated in San Pedro

September 10th Celebrations in San Pedro
The September 10th celebrations commemorating the 214th Battle of St. George’s Caye in San Pedro took new form as the San Pedro House of Culture and the San Pedro Town Council held activities at Central Park to bring in the anniversary celebratory activities, parade and the official coronation of Miss San Pedro.

The evening’s activities on Sunday, September 9, 2012, included marching band presentations by Isla Bonita Elementary and San Pedro Roman Catholic School who entertained the large gathering at the park with excellent drumming skills that were accompanied by their own dance squads. Other presentations included musical performances by Naslin Rivero, Trisha Godoy, Barrington Castillo and Natalie Arceo who all sang patriotic and lively songs to pick up the spirit of celebration for the evening. Dance routines included a pirate themed performance by the San Pedro Dance Company and a flag routine by Miss Chiquitita Darianie Pou.

The highlight of the evening was a musical performance by the Boom and Chime Band that had people dancing to popular Belizean cultural music. They performed late into the evening to bring in September tenth.

Miss San Pedro 2012 – Naiely Puc

Early morning celebrations on the tenth commenced at 10a.m. at Central Park once again as the official crowning ceremonies of the new Miss San Pedro took place. Outgoing Miss San Pedro Yakarelis Hernandez passed on the crown, scepter and robe on to Miss San Pedro 2012-2013 Naiely Puc who graciously accepted the responsibilities of being our newest beauty ambassador.

Miss Naiely Puc promised to continue brining honor and pride to the Miss San Pedro organization and to represent La Isla Bonita to the best of her abilities. After her coronation, Miss San Pedro was joined by Miss Yakarelis Hernandez and the other participating contestants of the Miss San Pedro Pageant which included Miss Darcie Zepeda, Ashley Rhaburn and Adriana Haylock, on the official queen’s float that was followed by all the participating schools around the main streets of San Pedro for the annual St. George’s Caye Parade. The fun continued all day long with a beach party at Central Park.
