Tropic Air Officially Inaugurates San Ignacio Service and New Maya Flats Terminal

Tropic Air held the official inauguration ceremonies for its new San Ignacio passenger and cargo service on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. The ribbon was also cut on its new terminal facilities at Maya Flats Airstrip which will serve the people of San Ignacio, Santa Elena, Benque Viejo and surrounding areas.

In addition, the new route will serve to link the area resorts with those in the rest of the country. This will make travel easier, increase tourism, and further enhance the diversity of the available tourism product for Cayo.

Mayors of San Ignacio Town, Benque Viejo del Carmen and of San Pedro Town were present at the inaugural ceremony and they all reiterated how the entire surrounding areas will benefit from the new flight service by helping with increasing tourism and jobs, not only in the towns of San Ignacio/Santa Elena and Benque Viejo, but also for the nearby villages.
