Tanya McNab, publisher of Flavors of Belize -The Cookbook, was invited to showcase Belize and the cookbook on United States daytime television morning show. Daytime TV is a morning show that is produced by River Bank Studios at the NBC News Center / WFLA Channel 8, Tampa, FL. The show covers just about 85% of US households with a reach of 91.7 million homes across the United States and is syndicated in over 100 markets. That’s a lot of coverage!
“You can imagine how thrilled we were when we got asked to be a part of such a great show,” commented Tanya McNab. “We wasted no time and immediately met up with them to prepare for what a spectacular show it would turn out to be.”
This act of exposure gives Belize an image of great diversity in not just its people, but its cultures and foods. The presentation of the cookbook along with its stunning imagery projects the professionalism of Belize and states that Belize has arrived. This is a great marketing tool for Belize, as it gives local information as well as history on the different ethnic groups that can be found throughout the country.
Tanya was interviewed by Cyndi Edwards, one of the show hosts, and was also accompanied by Jaden Hair, a television chef, food columnist, blogger and author of both The Steamy Kitchen and Steamy Kitchen’s Healthy Asian Favorites (Feb 2013).
Tanya and Jaden paired up to do the cooking portion of the show, where they cooked coconut curry shrimp. The coconut curry shrimp recipe, contributed by Elvi’s Kitchen in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, is one of the many exotic dishes that can be found throughout the cookbook, and is definitely a favorite of the people.
