Easter Break in Belize is HUGE! San Pedro Holds Party Central Status

The Easter Holiday (or Spring Break) in Belize is one of the biggest holidays in the country. It is even bigger than Christmas and quite possibly bigger than all other holidays put together. Major planning takes place for the four-day weekend where many head home to their families while others travel away from the mainland in search for the beach, sun, sand and sea! The offshore cayes and the coastline of Placencia are the biggest draws.

The islands of Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker are especially flooded with tourists both international and  local residents of the mainland who are looking for fun and entertainment. San Pedro Town was fully booked months in advanced and locating a room last minute was highly unlikely. There have even been times when people camp on the beach just so that they can enjoy the island. Tropic Air reported bringing in close to 200 passengers alone on their midday flight from the international airport into Ambergris Caye.

The vibe in San Pedro was high this year with one of the biggest parties being at the Holiday Hotel where Miami’s DG Zog hosted a two-day beach bash that is still the talk of the town. Other establishments holding parties were Tackle Box, Luna Loca, Sandbar, The Villas at Banyan Bay and the two nightclubs Jaguar’s Temple and Daddy Rock.

But the celebrations were spread throughout the island as there was entertainment for just about everybody. Those who liked a more tranquil time on the beach with the family chose to line up along the beach at Boca del Rio Park, Central Park and all along the coast. Others who wanted to get away from it all stayed away from town and enjoyed a more quiet time at their resorts located north and south of downtown.

There is definitely something for everybody during Easter in San Pedro. The lure of the beach, sand and surf is one of the biggest attractions that the island has to offer. The beach parties are for the young and energetic while relaxation might be more attractive to others. All in all, San Pedro has proven to be the #1 destination in the country when it comes to Easter break.
