Belize Telemedia Limited officially launched its new telephone directory on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at San Ignacio Town. Highlighted on the front cover is Belize’s cultural uniqueness – agriculture.
“Today BTL is highlighting the fact that agricultural produce and the resulting Belizean cuisines, places us at a culturally unique status within the region and makes Belize a home away from home for many, many tourists,” stated Karen Bevans – Chief Operating Officer, BTL.
“As you look at it, the words, fresh, vibrant, colorful, nutritious and abundant come to mind when looking at this picture,” stated guest speaker for the ceremony Hon. Gaspar Vega, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Natural Resources and Agriculture. “I believe it is a strong statement on our nutritious local food.”
Chief Operating Officer, Karen Bevans stated that it is the first time that local produce is being featured on the directory cover. She continued by stating that food plays a major role in the country’s cuisine and the picture of the San Ignacio market was used to promote Belize.
New features in the 2013 phone book include yellow pages in Spanish and coupons in the back of the phone book, a total of 50,000 copies were printed.
