In a highly contested pageant, five beautiful ladies native of Caye Caulker competed for the title of Miss Lobster Fest at the opening of the island’s Lobster Festival that took over the weekend.
The pageant was held on Friday evening, June 27, 2014, in which Miss Lobster Fest 2013 Sherylee Dawson invited the large gathering under the main festival tent to sit back and enjoy a wonderful program that the Caye Caulker Lobster Festival and contestants had proudly put together.
Competing for the title of Miss Lobster Fest were Veida Gomez, Jessica Tzalam, Gleselie Chan, Britany Ysaguirre and Jolene Williams. The contestants were judged on beauty, poise, clarity, creativity and individuality throughout the pageant in five segments that included their introduction, costume, Depiction of lifestyle on Caye Caulker, Evening Wear and the Question & Answer.
Hosting the pageant was Belize City Television Personality William Neal and entertainment in between the pageant segments was provide by The Belize National Dance Company, San Pedro singer Natalie Arceo, guitarist Amauri and two impromptu audience participation performances that added to the lightheartedness of the event.
The panel of judges included Former Beauty Queen and entrepreneur Tanisha Vernon, Belize City Channel 7 News Anchor Indira Craig and Ambergris Today Editor Dorian Nuñez. They awarded the Miss Caye Caulker Lobster Fest title to Britany Ysaguirre after she proved to be the best candidate in exhibiting all the qualities asked of her by the pageant committee and to best represent her community and title.

Other awards and titles given out at the end of the evening to the contestants included:
•Miss Cooperative – Contestant who the committee viewed as cooperating the most during practices and events, and always gave 100%. (Miss Veida Gomez)
•Miss Amity – Chosen by the contestants via secret ballot; given to the contestant who they thought was the friendliest and easiest to get along with. (Miss Jolene Williams)
•Miss Popularity – Chosen through community votes via the sale of Miss Popularity tickets. (Miss Veida Gomez)
•Miss Creativity – Chosen by Secret Judges based on the most creative and overall best looking float. (Miss Jessica Tzalam)
•Miss Photogenic – Chosen by the Lobster Fest Committee. (Miss Britany Ysaguirre)
The new miss Caye Caulker Lobster Fest was paraded through the crowded streets of Caye Caulker the following day Saturday, June 28 as the festival kicked into high gear. Miss Britany Ysaguirre was seen interacting with all the visitors to the island and participating in the various events that made up Caye Caulker’s Lobster Festival 2014.
