Filming Starts for Local La Isla Bonita Soap Opera

After some delays, setbacks and basic preparation time, filming of the long anticipated La Isla Bonita Telenovela (Soap Opera) has commenced on Ambergris Caye and the producers and director are eager to present the first pilot episode to the public.

Work commenced on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, on location at Victoria House Resort as local actors, who were cast back in September 2013, were called to duty for the first ever locally produced and funded soap opera (telenovela). The project is a continuation of Make-Belize Films and director/producer Matthiew Klinck who brought the popular movie “2012: Kurse A Di Xtabai”, also entirely produced and filmed in Belize.

In keeping with his promise and desire of promoting the film industry in Belize, Matthiew now promises to bring a soap opera full of love, suspense, drama, humor and all what makes a telenovela so addictive to watch. A recently added cast member to the production is actress and former Miss Italy Denny Mendez. She befriended the director and producers and was very willing to join the project after being invited and reading up on the script. Denny will make a great addition to the telenovela.

“I am very excited to be part of the telenovela,” commented Denny Mendez to Ambergris Today. “I read the script and it is very interesting and I am delighted to be part of the project and to be here in San Pedro where I love the life, culture and the people.”

All filming will be done on location at various sites and locations on the island with an all local crew and local actors.

“The telenovela will showcase the island,” commented Klinck. “It will not be about the island, but about possible storylines that take place on the island; about life on the island.”

On board with Matthiew Klinck is Horacio (Chito) Guerrero as Executive Producer and award-winning director Arlando Smith as Producer.
