San Pedro Junior Sailing Club Continues Reign in National Regattas

The young sailors of the San Pedro Junior Sailing Club once again proved that they are the team to beat as they placed in four of the top five positions at the 5th National Ranking Regatta for 2014 that was held over the weekend in their hometown of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Young sailors from across the country convened in Ambergris Caye on Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6, to sail in a series of six races each day at the event held at Boca del Rio Park. It was a beautiful sight to witness a large fleet of white sails out in front of the park as the regatta saw participation from to island sailing clubs San Pedro Junior Sailing Club (SPJSC) & San Pedro Sailing Club (SPR), Caye Caulker Sailing Club (CCSC), Sea Scouts, Corozal Bay Sailing Club (CBSC), Belize City Sailing Club (BCSC) and Placencia Sailing Club (PSC).

Taking overall top spots in the Regatta were Faith Noel and Jerdon Anderson, both sailors of the San Pedro Junior Sailing Club with 11 points each. Rounding off the top five spots were Antonio Ricardez Jr. of BCSC in third, Christian Trejo (SPJSC) in fourth and Davin Puc (SPJSC) in fifth place. These sailors competed in the white fleet for advanced sailors which had a total of 25 competitors.

Taking top place in the green fleet for novice sailors were Alanis Badillo (CCSC) in 1st Place, Harrison Cadle Jr. (CCSC) in 2nd Place and Rashawn Gonzalez (SPJCS) in 3rd Place who all scored 14 points each. Twenty three novice sailors raced in the green fleet. Rounding out the Top 10 in the novice races were:

The two-day regatta held in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye was the 5th National Ranking Regatta of the 2014 Sailing Season and acts as a qualifier for the National Champions Regatta (BIZ14) scheduled for November 8 and 9. Congratulations to the San Pedro Junior Sailing Club on their impressive winning streak and to all the young sailors who do a fantastic job in competitions around the country of Belize.
