Santa Claus riding a GIANT Shark floating across the moonlit sea caught the eyes of everyone who went out to watch the eight annual San Pedro Holiday Lighted Boat Parade that took place on Saturday, December 6, 2014. That, plus a handful of boat entries, lit up the dark horizon and delighted spectators of all ages on a magical evening.
After a hiatus last year, the Lighted Boat Parade was organized once again this year, and solidified its ranking as a top tourist (and local) event in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize. The event attracted hundreds to gather at various viewing hot spots, with local restaurants and bars offering special menus and cocktails to their customers.
As usual, the boat groups showcased their lighted creations and Christmas spirit in the route that commenced north of town at Wayo’s Beachside Bar running south to Caribbean Villas; Santa Clause was at Central Park along with booths set up by Saga Humane Society and other private businesses that displayed their products.
A group of judges awarded the top boats as follows:
1. First Place – Blue Water Grill’s Giant Shark
2. Second Place – Isla Bonita Elementary School
3. Third Place – No Rush/The Phoenix Resort (Fishing Santa)
4. San Pedro Lions Club – Awarded with Minister’s Trophy
