Renown Interior Designer Adds Magical Touch at Mahogany Bay Village

With over sixty acres of property, Mahogany Bay Village is one of the largest developments on Ambergris Caye and is steadily moving forward with a grand opening next year that has residents curious as to the full scope of the development.

The resort boasts in becoming a new evolution in resort community living, infusing advanced modern amenities, a rustic-chic style and lively ambiance with unforgettable Belizean hospitality, culture and charm. Once completed the property will feature private residences, a four-star hotel, bay and beach club, spa, restaurant, bars, business center and even a general store.

Mahogany Bay Village is quite possibly the largest development on the island, employing close to 200 Belizean employees. There is a team of workers out in the Cayo District, Belizean craftsmen who are in charge of producing all the woodwork and furniture being placed into the project. British colonial stylings include rustic furniture with high ceilings, Belizean hardwood finishings and living spaces reminiscent of old British architecture with a touch of modern island style.

Construction is about to start on a 16,000sq ft Great House at Mahogany Bay Village that has hired the expertise of some of the best in the design business to bring magic into the project. Renowned designer Amanda Lindroth of Lindroth Designs was on Ambergris Caye to plan and discuss how she would be adding a unique touch of ‘Caribbean’ style to the Great House and Mahogany Bay Village.

Partnered with Julia Starr of Starr Sanford Designs, Amanda was hired to bring more life to the larger public spaces of the project that include the Great House, the Bay Club and the Beach Club. Amanda’s designs are heavily influence by the islands and island life and her interiors have been described as being comfortable and breezy, strongly influenced by classical architecture and proportion.

Her intuitive style graces design magazines worldwide with its casual blend of sophisticated comfort and colonial-Caribbean chic. Lindroth Design has received international exposure, having graced the covers of prominent interior design magazines such as Coastal Living, Veranda, House Beautiful and Martha Stewart.

At Mahogany Bay, Amanda has been inspired by architecture of “Old Belize” to emulate the inherent comforts of the colonial era, as she is known to honor historical context while interweaving fresh design elements.

The team at Mahogany Bay has spent time in Belize City studying old colonial buildings their character and design and much of its beauty and charm will be added to that of Mahogany Bay Village’s style.

Amanda says that she is thrilled to be working with Mahogany Bay Village as the project is exactly her style. She plans on making the development very unique and having a true stamp of the history, culture and beauty of Belize.
