A pool of blood stains the pavement in front of Super Buy store on Angel Coral Street (Back Street) this afternoon as a man who was stabbed, at approximately 2p.m., collapsed in the middle of the busy street. Police have blocked the street and the victim has been taken to the Dr. Otto Rodriquez San Pedro Poly Clinic II.
Eye witnesses account the very bizarre incident that apparently started on Barrier Reef Drive at Central Park. According to eye witnesses, the man (identified as Elton Polonio) was stabbed in the park area where he proceeded to run to Maya Hardware Store across from Super Buy, on Back Street. It was there that he purchased a machete and upon exiting the store (swinging the machete as to locate his assailant) he collapsed on the street where he bled profusely from a stab would to his chest, before being picked up to be taken to the clinic.
These are all unofficial reports and accounts from eye witnesses. Polonio was removed from the area in critical condition and his current state is unknown. More information as it becomes available.

San Pedro Police have arrested and charged 32 year-old Lyndon Kelly, a fisherman resident of San Pedrito Area, for the stabbing of Elton Polonio that occurred in broad daylight in downtown on Thursday, September 8, 2016. Kelly was arraigned on Monday, September 12, before Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith on the single charge of murder. With no plea he was remanded into custody until January 16, 2017.

Thirty two year old Elton Polonio succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the San Pedro Poly Clinic. He was fatally stabbed in the chest and now San Pedro Police is seeking one person of interest who they believe can be of assistance in solving the bizarre afternoon murder.
Polonio has a string of encounters with the police, including with his murderer. He was involved in another stabbing incident in which he stabbed another person on the chest and a separate shooting incident. Polonio died while undergoing treatment and his body has since being transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
