Rebecca “Bex” Rath, Miss Belize Universe 2016, is already busy connecting with Belizeans and preparing for the Miss Universe Pageant early next year. On Friday, September 23, Muffles College welcomed her to Orange Walk with a full day of events, which including a motivational speech to students and a visit to the Banquitas House of Culture. The following day she presented the winner of Mr. Belize 2016, Rigo Vellos, with his trophy.
Ms. Rath has also visited the Belize Zoo, met Gulisi School students in her native Dangriga, and received a very warm welcome when she appeared at her alma mater, Ecumenical High School, also in Dangriga.
Miss Belize Universe attended the official Independence Day flag-raising in Dangriga and Independence Day ceremonies in Belmopan. Earlier in the month, she attended the Tribute to Belizean Patriots.
And, then there’s the song. Recording artist Papa John composed and recorded “Bex Fi Belize,” soon after her pageant win on September 10. When asked why he decided to produce the track, Papa John said he regards Bex as a friend, even as a sister, and wanted to show his support.
Reacting to the song Rebecca posted on Facebook, “Whaaaaat!!!! Papa John!! This crazy! I have my own song! See what I love bout griga?!?! We rideeeee. Bex fi belize- hashtag da one deh!”
