A team from Belize’s National Institute of Culture and History, as well as a number of performing artists represented Belize at EXPOFER in Chetumal, QRoo, Mexico over the weekend. At the Feria Regional de la Frontera Sur. (EXPOFER) Karen Vernon, of the Institute of Creative Arts (NICH), lead the delegation.
The President of the Municipality of Othon P. Blanco, Quintana Roo, invited Belize to participate in this year’s EXPOFER, even providing the country a booth space which offered the opportunity to showcase ‘Unique Belize’, an initiative which helps Belizean artisans to market and sell their work. In addition, visitors to the booth were presented with information about Belizean cultural and tourism offerings, with materials in Spanish and English. Visitors to EXPOFER on Saturday, October, 30, were treated to a Belizean musical tonight that included performances by Cecil “Cocono Bwai” Jenkins, Ernestine Carballo, Youth Connection and others.
EXPOFER a major annual exposition and fair that showcases culture and arts from this region, including Belize. It runs from from 26 October to 2 November, 2016.
