UB and the UWI Sign Memorandum to Improve Tertiary Level Education in Belize

Recognizing the common interest in the continuous development of the human capacities at the national and regional levels, Dr. Luz Longsworth, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of the West Indies Open Campus, Cave Hill, Barbados, and Alan Slusher, President of the University of Belize, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing an even closer co-operative relationship between the two universities.

The MOU, signed on 8th November, 2016, at the UWI Open Campus in Belize City, seeks to strengthen the relationship through collaborative efforts in research, teaching, and programme and course development. It includes provisions for student exchanges, professional development for faculty and staff, and for joint consultancy arrangements both locally and internationally.

The MOU represents the commitment of the two institutions to intensify their efforts to develop Belize’s human resources as a critical contributor to the country’s social and economic development.
