British High Commissioner to Belize, H.E. Peter Hughes, hosted a small reception on Thursday, May 25, 2017, to announce the appointment of James Janmohamed as Honorary Consul for San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Caye Chapel and Long Caye. This is the first honor of its kind in Belize from the British High Commission.
“Jim will be a link into the community here and would help us whenever he possibly could,” stated H.E. Peter Hughes. “As an honorary Consul he is my representative in this area and he has a piece of paper from the government giving him that power. So he can now act on my behalf; he can do things for the British Government that he could not do before.”
H.E. Huges stressed the fact that the San Pedro has grown and is continuing to grow, with more British people becoming a part of the community. Mr. Janmohamed will now be a key person to act on his behalf and ensure his duties and services are carried out in a timely manner.
“It is really nice to be shown this king of support from all of you,” commented Janmohamed as he addressed the gathering of friends, family and British nationals living on Ambergris Caye. “I am really honored and will continue to do the things I have been doing to assist as Honorary Consul.”
