Belize Discusses Plans for New National Bus Terminal in Belize City

On July 12, 2017, Minister of Transport Hon Edmond Castro met with Belize Infrastructure Limited (BIL) General Manager Ms. Christy Mastry, and Mr. Marcel Ham of IMG Rebel, the Public Private Partnership consultant to the GOB, to discuss plans for a new National Bus Terminal in Belize City.

The new National Bus Terminal, to be constructed as part of the Lake Independence Master Plan, now endorsed by Cabinet, will be one of the first projects to anchor the new development area. The project is now being envisioned as a public-private sector partnership with the potential for not only national and regional bus line servicing, but also expanded auxiliary commercial, retail and depot services, as well as connectivity to the local public transportation network.

The Ministry of Transport will continue to work in partnership with Belize Infrastructure Limited on the Lake Independence and Transportation Master Plan efforts, for the delivery of a welcomed facility that will serve to improve the transportation system along with the legislative framework to support these nationwide enhancements.
