Anke Doehm Packs Up and Leaves Ambergris Caye in Four Hours

Belizeans who protested outside the Supreme Court (mostly from Ambergris Caye) on Friday, July 21, 2017, were extremely disappointed after David and Anke Doehm were granted bail despite arguments from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). The couple, charged with ‘Cruelty to a Child’, are still prime suspects of the death of their adoptive daughter, 13-year-old Faye Lin Cannon.

On Sunday, July 23, eye witnesses reported seeing Anke Doehm boarding the 10:30a.m. Ocean Ferry Water Taxi leaving Belize City with destination to San Pedro. Word quickly spread around San Pedro Town and residents lined up to confirm her arrival on Ambergris Caye.

Chanting “You Murdered Faye”, those who gathered followed her as she walked on the beach, to Central Park, where she crossed over to Front Street (Barrier Reef Drive) to meet the nearest taxi past her store Rubi Moon.

Anke was traveling with an unknown Belizean woman who assisted her as she loaded a golf cart with luggage. She was seen packing her belongings from her Grand Caribe residence. Angry islanders never left sight of Anke and followed her throughout her four-hour visit to the island. She was followed to her boutique, Rubi Moon, where she was seen entering the establishment and talking to the landlords.

Shortly after, Anke and her companion returned to the water taxi and left the island on the 4p.m. boat. Ambergris Today met up with Anke at the Ocean Ferry Belize City terminal where she was seen assisted by three more people, reportedly all Belizeans, who helped her with her luggage and drove her away.

A couple city residents attempted to follow Anke but were stopped by police officers. Our sources confirm that Attorney Dickie Bradley stated that the Doehms will be residing in Belize City for the time being as they have obviously moved out to San Pedro Town and have to report to the Belize City Queen Street Police Station every Monday, as for their bail requirements.

The Doehms are not allowed to leave the country until the criminal case against them is concluded. Bail conditions also required them to hand over their travel documents to the US Embassy to be retained until the charge of cruelty to a child is concluded.

While Anke was able to meet bail payment on Friday, David remained imprisoned during the weekend until today Monday, July 24, when as we understand he will make bail payment. Murder investigations continue while Belizeans remain in shock of the developments in the case of Faye Lin Cannon’s death.
