San Pedro Police Make Positive Steps in Recent Crimes

San Pedro Police have cracked down on latest murder case on Ambergris Caye as the department has boosted personal on the island, including the presence of the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU).

Police have charged Jose Armando Marroquin and Sarbelo Marroquin for the murder of Scott Charles who was gunned down at his home in the Elliot Subdivision of San Pedro Town on Wednesday, August 16. They will be arraigned in Magistrate’s Court at the earliest convenience, and they will then be remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

Seven News Belize indicates that their Police sources say that these men are believed to be hitmen for one of the warring groups on San Pedro that has been trying to protect their drug turf. They were identified by witnesses in an identification parade.

Charles was home alone after his girlfriend took their 8-month-old daughter to church. His family believes that his shooters waited for them to leave, and as soon as they knew that he was alone, they kicked down his door and shot him in inside his house. Charles received gunshot wounds to the lower part of his abdomen and lower thigh. He was transported to Belize City in a critical condition but succumbed to his injuries the following day while undergoing medical treatment.

Police report that on Wednesday, August 23, the Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) members attached to san pedro conducted a search in an abandoned lot in the San Juan area which resulted in the discovery of (1) .380 pistol. No one was in the area so it was deposited as “Found Property”.
