Kareem told us that his job as a MST is ensuring safety and security of US ports by conducting Vessel Inspections, Container Inspections, Facility Inspection, Waterways Management and Environmental Protection by responding to Oil discharge and Hazmat release.

During Hurricane Irma, he was involved in conducting fly overs to assess the port’s conditions. “We were ensuring it was safe to reopen the ports,” commented Kareem to Ambergris Today. “The ports are the primary means of providing supplies/cargo to the island and are very essential to the everyday operations of the island.”

Kareem has been serving in the US Coast Guard for 12 years now and is a prime example of a young Belizean excelling abroad and succeeding in a great career. Ambergris Today is proud to see Belizeans out there working hard and achieving their goals; most importantly helping others. Thus it gives us great pride to share with our readers about Kareem.
