Two New Cruise Ships calls to Belize: Marella Discovery 2 & Mein Schiff 6
December 8, 2017- Belize City, Belize- Belize welcomed Marella Discovery 2 in its first call to Belize on December 7, 2017. The ship had its maiden call ceremony on board at 11:00 a.m., participating was the ships local agent Eurocaribe Shipping Services, Ministry of Health, the Customs Department, BAHA, Immigration and the Belize Tourism Board.
In the summer of 2017, Marella Discovery 2, with approximately 1,836 passengers and 771 crew members, joined the fleet of TUI Cruises. Marella Discovery 2 is the sister ship to Marella Discovery – and this is why their names are so similar. Having two ships means you’re able to pair a wider choice of itineraries with the exciting features offered by this larger, more contemporary style of vessel. This ships boasts an outdoor cinema, a rock climbing wall, a mini golf course, an indoor pool and a glossy atrium. Not to mention a range of bars, excellent dining scene and nighttime shows enhanced by up-to-the-minute technology.
Just like Marella Discovery, Marella Discovery 2 as standard is all inclusive. Drinks, including Prosecco and cider, meals in a selection of restaurants and most on-board activities are included in the cruise price. Flights and tips are both part of the package, too. We are also pleased to announce that the Mein Schiff 6, another cruise ship owned by TUI Cruises made its first call to Belize on 16th November, 2017. The ship brought approximately 2,780 passengers and 1,030 crew members to our shores. Mein Schiff 6 is mainly similar to Mein Schiff 3, Mein Schiff 4, and Mein Schiff 5 with only minor differences to its sister vessels. It was launched in January 3, 2017, and was in service on May 12th, 2017.
On the 15 decks there are more than 1250 cabins, most of them with their own balcony. The choice of cabins ranges from the low-priced interior cabin, exterior, balcony and SPA cabins to the luxurious suites. New on Mein Schiff 6 are the Diamond Suites, the spacious family cabins and three different suite categories. A highlight on Mein Schiff 6 is the combi balcony cabin.
On board almost exclusively German is spoken. It is relaxed, as in an upscale club hotel. Families also often on board during the holidays. The guests particularly appreciate the informal atmosphere, the possibilities to be active in sports and the variety of catering facilities. With the “Premium All Inclusive” concept almost all food and drinks as well as tips are already included in the tour price. Here, TUI Cruises is very different from most other providers.
The Belize Tourism Board keeps working diligently to attract more ships to visit our beautiful country. Recently the BTB trained a total of 35 guides in German, French & Italian to ensure that guests coming on these multilingual ships can have a better experience in Belize.
