“Yesterday was the best time of my life seeing the innocent reactions of the kids, the smiles and ‘thank you’s’ that I received was the best gift this Christmas,” commented Nayobie Rivero as she distributed gifts to less fortunate children in San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye. Fourteen year old Nayobie has put together Nayobie’s Hope For Children Project that has started with small fundraising projects in order to assist the island youth.
This past holiday weekend she, along with friends and family, put together a fun-filled fashion show titled ‘Candy Land’, a fundraiser as part of her philanthropic efforts to share gifts during the holiday season. The fashion was hosted by Oceana Belize’s Ocean Hero 2017 Madison Edwards and entertained the audience with children and youth modeling latest fashion clothes from island boutiques and gift shops and dance presentations. A raffle was also held during the show to further raise funds for the cause.

On Tuesday, December 26, Nayobie visited neighborhoods to share some of the toys she could purchase with the profits from the fashion show. She also managed to put together gift boxes loaded with groceries that were handed out to four senior citizens in the community who really needed assistance.
“From the kids to the elders, everyone is entitled to be happy for these holidays,” commented Nayobie. “Of course this wouldn’t be possible with the help of every business that contributed with their generous sponsorship, the models and parents who contributed their time, and of course my dynamic team; Merari, Cesar, Andrea, Ada, Manuel, Henry, Yakzari, Kayla, Dedemir, Samir, Dylan, Miss Coqui and everyone else who gave a helping hand during the fashion show and after. A special thanks to my family who were supporting me from day one. I love you all.”
