The Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean, Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba, accompanied by the Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), Agustín García-López Loaeza, was on a working visit to Belize.
The program of the visit included the presentation of the final construction project of the Mexico Sports Hall at the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS); the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education of Belize and AMEXCID granting 25 half-scholarships to students of the Escuela Secundaria Técnica México, as well as the official inauguration of the replica of a monumental Olmec head donated by the Government of Mexico to the people of Belize on the occasion of President Enrique Peña Nieto last October visit to the country, which is already adorning the North Ring Road roundabout in Belmopan.
This visit represents a further example of the importance Mexico grants to Belize as neighbor and as strategic partner, and reaffirms the bonds of friendship between our two peoples.
